Tiger's Not There, but I Don't Care.

17th Green at TPC SawgrasSo, the greatest golfer in the world is recovering from surgery and won't be participating this week in the PLAYERS Championship at Sawgrass... and I don't care!

Don't get me wrong.  Tiger is without question one of the best, if not 'the best' golfer to have ever played the game.  I watch his skillful execution of the game with awe and utter respect.

However, he is but one of many incredible players of the game that I enjoy watching and, in fact, he doesn't have the best track record on the magnificent TPC at Sawgrass course.  With the strongest field in golf at center stage, entertainment will not be lacking!

I intend to have a blast this week as I enjoy the sun, fun, and relaxation that comes with attending one of the world's finest sporting events.  This will be Susan's first time at a PGA event so that will make it all the more fun for me!

FORE!

This is a great tournament or a super course...with or without Tiger.  Have fun (and great weather)!

Tim,  Keep us posted on the fantastic shot that you have an opportunity to see.  Even those that are not rated as high as Tiger can still do wonders with a golf ball.  Enjoy the sun and fun.

Tim...

Dang it, I just wrote a long comment and lost it somehow!

Anyway, I never played the TPC course but I did play Sawgrass way back when. All I remember is that I lost a ton of golf balls.

Tiger is exciting to watch, but there where be plenty of great golf to watch even with his absence. These guys are incredible!

We had a golf event here in GA early in April...Tiger play like crap and came in second ... Let's see ...what was that called...lol

We had a marvelous day!  The weather was chamber of commerce PERFECT.  Of course, being the first day practice round, there weren't a lot of top players to be seen other than a couple of the locals like Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk.

One of the spectator events is a short replica of the 17th Island Green hole (it is only about 75 yards long) that spectators get to 'try' their luck at.  Yours truly put his shot within 2' 9" of the hole giving me the 3 best shot overall - they put up the top 10 names... how about that, my name on the LEADER BOARD!  LOL - My 15 minutes of fame.

(Having played the course many times, I can tell you that this short replica was MUCH easier than the actual hole... although, as long as the wind isn't blowing, it really isn't a difficult hole to par or birdie... just a pitching wedge or 9 iron depending on pin placement - but it is a thrill to play it nonetheless!)

Richard -

I would absolutely LOVE AN OPPORTUNITY to attend that little event you guys have up there in Georgia in April!!!

That would make this fat middle-aged Floridian a very happy man indeed! LOL

I'll post more pics for fellow golf-enthusiasts later.  Cameras are allowed during the practice rounds.
